So I am looking to make a small privacy fence around a slab patio in my back yard. Since I can't really afford to fence the entire yard it right now, I figured this would be better than nothing so I have a private space to sit outside. I am just not sure how much it will cost or how difficult it would be. I believe the space is 14.5 x 11.5 and it would be an "L" shape so not entirely enclosed as it would be up against the house.
Has anyone done this kind of fence before on their own? Is it difficult? Is there a way to get a cost estimate without contacting a contractor company?

Hey there. Both daunting and easier than you think at the same time. Two person job really.
Hardest part is digging the holes for posts, handling PT lumber, and keeping it level when pouring fast set concrete.
Wood privacy panels are generally less expensive but come in preassembled large panels that are cumbersome. Vinyl privacy fence now come in kits that you slide the vertical slats into top/bottom beams. Much lighter to work with but a bit more expensive.
Privacy panels normally come in 8' widths, so you're looking at 4 panels, two end posts, one corner post, two line posts, brackets, 5-10 bags of fast set concrete, plus digging/cutting/level tools.
Depending on where you live, trying to dig holes in winter sucks. Wait for ground to warm up. Double check municipality permit needs, HOA needs, and call 811 (they'll come mark underground lines like gas/water for free).
YouTube is a friend for this one and stores like Lowe's have really helpful How-To sections on their website.
